KENNETH COBONPUE The Artist

What does Adam Levine and Brad Pitt has in common? It is Kenneth Cobunpue.

The former used Cobunpue's Voyage Bed in a music video for a song entitled Never Gonna Leave this Bed and the later purchased a bed for personal use. this was mentioned in this blog. I have been researching about him for a few days since Ed Westwick left hoping I could see the bamboo chair that was given to him as a gift.

I used to be a design student but I didn't finish the course and moved to a whole new different world but every time I encounter terms and information that only a design student could have known, it still triggers something . I have sketched and rendered plates of furniture pieces but it could never reach the level of aesthetics of Kenneth Cobonpue's creations. I have seen his works in some shows but one of the most memorable was when I saw him in Project Runway season 2 with Russel Von Tero (incidentally someone I met through a friend). Russel was one of the most talented designers of that batch and he won the Cobonpue's challenge- they had to use one of his furniture designs as an inspiration for their next outfit. Russel is not a fashion design student but an interior design graduate still, he was able to prove that he can excel in it because it is his passion. He didn't win the Project Runway but he won another prestigious competition hosted by MEGA.
Upon searching more about Kenneth Cobunpue's work, I was lucky to stumble upon the mydesignfolder blog and I found this Inspiring Story. I realized how great it feels to excel in something one is passionate about. Kenneth didn't make the cut to be part of UP College of Fine Arts but I wonder if half of the batch who made it is as successful as he is. It did help that he has the resources but after failing the so called "talent test" he didn't end his dreams there. He decided that it is a beginning of a journey. I am glad he failed or it wouldn't have been such a sweet success story.

Check out the Adam Levine video here which was also mentioned in the Mydesignfolder.com blog

NOTE
I wonder when I'll lay on Kenneth Cobunpue's "BED" or instead of wering his shoes I'd prefer sitting on his chair.
