Welcome to the Philippines Ed Westwick!

   When I first saw a post from FashionPulis blog that a popular celebrity will be in the Philippines for a local brand endorsement I really thought it was Robert Pattinson because of this photo,

   But later on it was mentioned that it is actually Ed Westwick of the popular show Gossip Girl. I was just so excited when I found out. I just wish there is a way for us to actually see him. Thanks to twitter I was able to see some photos of him arriving just a few mins ago.

   He seems tired but he still seems nice and accommodating unlike his Gossip Girl character(Chuck Bass) he doesn't seem arrogant at all (judging from his photos). I wish we could get to see him up close but he might just be here for a short while because he just needs to shoot for a Penshoppe Ad Campaign. If you are wondering who the girl is, she is the PR for Penshoppe and she used to be the PR manager/GF of Phil Younghusband. Rumors have been circulating that when their relationship ended Phil owed her tons of cash. It was never confirmed nor denied but their falling out wasn't good. 

   Going back to Ed I love him more than his character. He is almost gay in Gossip Girl with all that vanity and high end outfits. In real life his style is quite the opposite. Check this pictures to see what I am talking about.

Update..
He will be in Tagaytay today for the shoot and he will stay in the country until June 4, 2011 according to some people in twitter the photographer is a foreigner too. I love this photo of him unfortunately it was not tagged so I do not know who took the photo.

The Other Younghusband

  People would often talk about Phil Younghusband because he is the "showbiz" one but I was lucky to see them both in person and how they are in normal setting. I find James better looking. His eyes are always smiling and he is more friendly even to strangers. I have seen him a couple of times and was lucky to have a photo with him before the whole Azkals blew up a storm. I knew that he was single for quite a while but now he is ready to admit that he is taken. Here are some of his photos and a photo with friends and girlfriend Fiona Faulkner.

UP is still UP

   I'm happy to know that UP is still one of the top Universities in Asia and still leads the pack in our country. 
I have read it in Yahoo and saw the article it was released by Quacquarelli Symonds (whatever that is.)
The University of the Philippines was listed No. 62 while Ateneo de Manila University took the 65th spot. University of Sto. Tomas and De La Salle University placed at No. 104 and 107, respectively.

   This June the University will be swarmed again by new students. Freshmen who do not know where to go. These students will be walking and standing tall because they are overwhelmed that they finally made it. Unfortunately, it is just the beginning of a long journey.  


 Tips


1. Be Prepared - bring all the necessary stuff: pen, ID form 5, water, map, a fan, umbrella, water and snack. Try to go there and familiarize yourself before the first day of classes. Go to school early and organize all the hand outs you receive. If you would like to have good grades the syllabus given by the instructors are truly helpful. Try to read in advance about the lessons on the syllabus. Be active in recitation, do not be shy to voice our opinion.


2. Ask -  I know a lot of people who do not ask, but you have to ask the right people. Ask the guards or vendors (most students are in a hurry too so they might give you short answers.) Make sure you ask the right questions and use your common sense. Always ask the teacher after class if you would like to clarify anything, note the consultation hours because they appreciate it when the students take time to learn more about the lesson.


3. Be Friendly - people here are very friendly and nice so do not be afraid to have small talks which may be useful in the future. The guards, CR attendants, employees, photocopy personnel, vendors are all accommodating. They can be very helpful if they are already familiar with you. I have experienced losing my wallet one time and the vendor offered to give me a free meal (I paid the next day of course.) My friend said she doesn't have  smaller bill to pay a taxi and a guard offered to lend her money. If an employee recognized you from a previous transaction and they remember that you are polite they will not let you wait longer.


4. Use the Library - UP libraries has the most extensive collection of books. You can find any kind of books, some students do not take advantage of it but if you are a new students and you have nowhere else to go in between classes most colleges have libraries where you can stay to study, read and sleep. If you  would like to know about sketching, painting, and other drawing techniques visit the Fine Arts lib. If you like arts and crafts or cooking check out the Home Economics library and for your reading pleasure you can visit, College of Arts and Letters, College of MassCom, and the Main Library


5. Enjoy - Enjoy the place here are so many place, food and activities to enjoy make friends. Sunken Garden is one of the students'favorites spot because it is quite relaxing and you can just sit on one of the benches and enjoy the fresh air. Try the food, if you need a quick bit you can buy, Taho, Banana Cue, Turon, Lumpia, Fishballs and others. You can also jog with friends on the Acad oval if you have the time.




   These are just few tips but there are many more things to learn about.


   June is the deadline of the form for the students who will be taking UPCAT for school year 2012-2013 and August 2011,  is the actual exam. If you are a freshman now you will be a sophomore sooner than you thought.

Do not take a photo with Oble there is a superstition that if you take a photo with him you will be cursed either you won't graduate on time or not graduate at all ...


(It happened to me and my three friends it was probably just a coincidence, but 1 of our friends who was with us at the time knew about it and refused to have a photo with oble, she graduated on time.)

SKIN MANIA !!!

   Nope I didn't mean nudity.

   I have been experiencing problems with my skin for quite a while now and that includes nails, hair and the rest. I have always wished that my fingers were longer and my nails are shaped better but I guess you cannot have it all but if my problem is the largest organ of my body I really really need to work on it.

Beautiful Hands and Nails
1. Keep the fingers moisturized (use Lotion, Hand Cream, or Baby Oil vitamins can also help.)
2. Do not tinker with the nails or bite on it.
3. Avoid using alcohol or anything that can cause dry skin
4. Grow it out to a certain length and get a professional manicure
5. Do not scratch to avoid dirty nails
6. You can also take Vitamins C or E and food rich in those, don't forget to drink lots of water

Beautiful Hair 
1. Do not Shampoo or condition the hair every single day, some chemicals affect the texture of the hair
2. After taking a bath make sure to towel dry the hail before combing, Comb only when necessary
3. Avoid pulling it up or twist just let it down it will cause breakage and hair fall
4. Massage scalp or use hot oil or deep conditioning formula at least once or twice a week
5. Avoid using Straightening Iron, Blow dry and Curling iron this will strip hair of moisture
6. Drink lots of water and eat healthy food (fruits and vegetables)
7. Trim the hair every once in a while

Feet throwing a fit

Beautiful Feet
1. Always moisturize. Use a lotion or petroleum jelly at night and put socks over it
2. Do not wear ill fitting shoes to avoid calluses or deformation
3. If you already have calluses and bunions get a foot spa once in a while and it will improve your feet condition
4. Get a professional pedicure and maintain nails after
5. Dry it carefully after washing.
6. GEt a foot massage once in a while to relax your feet


It is not easy to maintain all this but I will start now.

PIRATES and MERMAIDS

   I love Johnny Depp!
 
   No matter how ugly he is on roles he played I still find him adorable. I rarely watch movies in theater because I often take advantage of the "cheaper-version-that-can-be-watched-at-home-with-an-option-to-pause-and-rewind" but I think I have seen a lot of his movies. Majority of the movies I have seen in big screen, are his. To name a few: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Secret Windows, Finding Neverland, Public Enemies, Sweeney Todd, Alice in Wonderland, and of Course Pirates of the Caribbean.

 I just watch the last installment of "Pirates..." a few hours ago and I find it so entertaining. Apart from Depp's funny antics I liked his chemistry with Penelope Cruz. I have a few favorite scene and I have chuckled aloud more than ten times the whole movie. The director has captured my attention from beginning to end. The comical aspect has been its selling point because the sword fights and other fight scenes were emphasized sparingly. I was relieved that Johnny didn't have to share screen time with Orlando Bloom or Keira Knightley a few fresh faces were really useful making it seem a whole new movie and not a rehash of the previous ones.
 
I didn't understand some parts at first but it was all made clear. I was lost at the last part when Capt. Jack Sparrow needs to give the correct chalice to the person who needs it more. I will have to give it a rating of 8/10 because I couldn't understand Penelope and some other people but as a whole people who watched will not say, What a waste.

I wonder how long it will take for SM to recuperate on their investment to have 3D movie theaters. I noticed that the ticket of 250pesos was auto charged with additional 50pesos for the popcorn and hotdogs

My favorite parts were the ff: when jack nibbled on a woman's ear(ring), mermaid attack, the love story of the clergy and Syrena, and the coconut tree with father and son bonding.

The part that registered to me was when the mermaids were jumping over the boat because I watched a similar video of fishes flying over a boat just recently. Check it out 

NOTE 

   We did have some minor problems at home, but after watching Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides  I totally forgot how annoyed I was that my Mom and Aunt won't let my cousin go with us (it was her first time to watch in a movie theater and she was so excited to watch because she has seen all the other sequels.) I just wished we didn't watch it in 3D because it wasn't necessary. It was just the same in some scenes. If the 3D glasses were not worn in some of the scenes it will be clearer and brighter. 

I still don't think that 300pesos is not necessary for just a movie. but who am I to complain if it is for free?

I think celebrities with most endorsements, tv appearance or fans are bound to rank high in this poll.

BLOG AGAIN?

   How Many Times Do I Have to Start a BLOG???

   This is the nth time that I started a blog. I can't seem to maintain one. I hope to make this one work. I plan to write about everything and anything under the sun, and moon (for that matter.) I will try to cover entertainment, food, movies current events and my daily thoughts, interests and other activities. I really hope this is the last one.

   I remember reading somewhere that most scientist had to make many prototype of something before they are satisfied with their inventions. Most food establishments like McDonalds (Hamburger Universiy) make thousands of trial before they release a product. I'm sure I haven't really created half or even a tenth of what others have done, but I'm really serious now.

   I really hope so!!!

     The Bulb is the universal symbol of a great idea and I always thought that I have lots of it. But if I do not write it down it is like it never happened and I won't have proof that I thought of it first.
